Kangana Ranaut: Breaking the Stereotype to Established Actress

Born on 23rd March 1987 in Bhambla (Himachal Pradesh) a Rajput by origin and a rebel by heart. Always breaking the stereotype is what we can call KanganaRanaut as. She is the established voice of every female who like an individual status without a man in her life and without leaning on support for one. Always been someone who would be different from the norm and the standards of the society, she was a stubborn child. At a very young age she always used to wear her own style statement that was rather unusual at the given point and unacceptable by the traditional society.

Early Life
She studies in DAV School of Chandigrah where she scored well at academics and which fueled her parents’ ambition who wanted her to be a doctor. However, she could not score well in chemistry and dropped the idea of becoming a doctor. Little did she knew that destiny have other plans for her.
Left home early at the age of 16 where her ambition to become an actress was rejected by her father.
Soon she got an offer by a modeling agency where she briefly worked, but modeling was not her calling and she decided to become an actress.

Her Trials and Tribulations
A newbie and untrained actor she was determined to reach for the stars. Conscious about her English diction she began learning everything early on. thankfully in her initial stage she got support from Aditya Pancholi& his wife ZarinaWahab, they soon became her second family.

Things became sour after some time wherein she landed in a lawsuit wherein she was called names and blamed for being flamboyant by the duo Aditya and his wife. However, she highlighted the fact that she was abused and assaulted by Aditya and soon she got her name cleared but in the process she lost her inner peace and was mentally disturbed. She still took it in her stride and this disadvantageous situation became her turning point wherein she was offered to work in movie Who Lamhe a semi-autobiographical account of Praveen and the director.

Career
She is always appreciated for her acting skills and her roles in numerous movies that she acted in, however the following list highlights her notable achievements in her acting career:
• 2006 was the year when it all began for her when she was casted in the movie Gangster, she was highly appreciated for her debut role and there on she began her journey towards success.
• 2013, she was casted for Shootout at Wadala. In the same year she was well appreciated and achieved success for her role in Krish 3.
• 2014, here breakthrough came in the Hindi cinema with the movie named Queen for which she co- wrote the dialogues with AnvitaDuttGuptan. In the same year she became a debut director & producer in an English language short film entitled The Touch.
• In 2015, she starred in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, a sequel of Tanu Weds Manu.The film earned over 2.4 billion worldwide and became highest-grossing Bollywood film featuring a female protagonist.

Recognition
• Won the National Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in Fashion.
• In the year 2013 listed as “India’s hottest vegetarian” in a poll conducted by PETA.
• Won two consecutive National Film Awards for Best Actress for Queen and a dual role in the comedy sequel Tanu Weds Manu: Returns.
• Forbes India featured Kangana in their annual Celebrity 100 list in 2012, 2014–2017, and 2019.
• The government of India honored her with India’s 4th highest civilian award Padma Shri in the year 2020.
