JOBY MATHEW CLAIMS HISTORIC GOLD

“When everyone says you can’t, determination says you Can”
One of such personality is Mr. Joby Mathew, who inspite of having challenges , overcame it and created history. He is an Indian International arm wrestler, who secured four gold medals in the Masters’ category of the World Para Powerlifting Asia Oceania Championships in Pyeongtaek, Korea. He is also the first wheel chaired fencer in India.
With a pair of stunted legs and a height of three feet and five inches, Mr. Joby Mathew secured four gold medals for India. He has a birth condition that caused him stunted legs but inspite of this, he chose to overcome it and make his abilities stronger than his disabilities.
Joby Mathew claimed the first gold medals for India in the Pyeongtaek 2022 Championships, in the Masters Open and Asian categories in men’s under 59kg event, his ranking in the finals of the 59kg open event earned him the qualification for the 2022 Asian Para Games.
Prior to Pyeongtaek event, he was a veteran of 24 international medals for various categories such as para badminton, para athletics and arm wrestling. Thereby, setting a story of inspiration and hope for us. No human is disabled with his body but with his own constraints of minds.
